Welcome to My Blog!

Welcome to the Princess Allure Blog! For at least a year now I have wanted to start a blog- a place to document my creative journeys, share things that inspire me, run competitions and share DIY projects.

For those who are new to Princess Allure, let me introduce myself. I’m Sarah the owner and creator behind Princess Allure Jewellery And Accessories and Princess Allure Boutique Events. I’m married to Brett and am a mumma to an energetic and beautiful boy; Olando. Aside from my family and creating my next great love is food…. I adore it and often dream in chocolate. I have to admit that I have a massive addiction to weddings, I was married over 4 years ago and still buy wedding magazines and drool over blogs. I have a bizarre taste in music- I love folk tunes from the 60′s, especially anything by Jaen baez, Bogan Rock (thats what I call it- Cold Chisel, etc), Bon Jovi, anything that falls into the Power Ballard category and I don’t even mind the odd country song.

I have always had a passion for DIY and handcrafting. When I was a child I would create handmade cards for my family and decorate my party favour bags with drawings and embellishments. I was surrounded by creative women- my nan and my mum.

My nan was my childhood haven, I spent a lot of time with my nan, playing scrabble or uno, chatting to her, eating Jatz with butter and cocktail onions and reading her ‘sexy’ novels out loud (not that I really knew what was going on, but I now do have a strange love of men who are tall, dark-haired and rugged with a slight smell of tabacco and rum LOL). My nan loved to paint and was very spiritual she gave me ‘Patience Strong’ Poetry books and my first ‘Begin It Now’, quote book.  I spent many a time during my childhood crouched down on her spiral stair case watching her teach yoga and dabling with her paints.

The other creative woman in my life is my mum- my mum can sew, paint, draw, craft- you name it she can do it. She made me Little Bow Peep and Dothory outfits when I was little and my wedding gown when I married Brett. I have fond memories of going through her craft draws and ‘borrowing’ pieces for me to construct or create something. I still often ‘borrow’ items from her neverending supply draws. My mum sews the items I need when I style weddings, she is a huge perfectionists and whatever she creates will surely last a lifetime and beyond.

Being in this environment is was enevitable that I would be drawn to creating. Its a passion that boarders on obsession (ask my husband and he will tell you I have problem). I love to make jewellery; especially for brides, styling parties, DIY and looking at gorgeous images on the net.

A lot of exciting things have happened in the past for Princess Allure and this year is going to be even better. With a 12 page Princess Allure styled magazine shoot being showcased in a bridal magazine late this year, many exciting collaborations with other creatives, and plenty more creations just waiting to be born; it sure is a fun ride and I hope you will enjoy this journey as much as I am!!
